Banzai - Hershey x Java brown male
So hard to believe it was one year ago today when you sent the email entitled "congratulations, your Puppy was born!!!".
Banzai had a great day playing with children (his favourite pastime) and romping with his happy birthday "banner".
He has just come in from his new game which consists of Ashwin batting a tennis ball across the lawn and Banzai in hot pursuit
- now we just have to hone those "drop it" skills.... Will send a photo when our boy is all trimmed (he is wayyyy due!) in 2 weeks
with an exact weight and height (close to 28-29 inches now....). So for now, here are a couple of shots from today and recently.
Thanks again for giving us such a delight :)

Lautrec - Brown Male (Java x Hershey)
We had such a busy day that this is my first chance to send a few photos and a 1 year update.
Today is Lautrec's birthday ! He weighs 86 lbs. and is 28" tall.
As you can see from the photos, he is well proportioned and very physical.
He is a total sweetheart and gets more so every day.
His color is holding well and his coat has wavy, soft curls.
He is a big attraction wherever we go. He can definitely draw a crowd and loves every minute of it.
I still have not captured the perfect stacked photo for you. One day I will.
Thank you for bringing our beautiful boy into this world.
His gentle spirit and big heart is truly captivating.

Brown Male ~Brodie~Baby Blue Collar
Well the ride in the crate did not work as he howled and cried to the point where I thought
I could not do 2.5 hrs of it. I stopped on the 407 and took him out to pee. Big one.
The rest of the ride was spent on my lap until I got to the Wendy's on the 400 N.
Out to pee again and had some water.
He is an absolute doll and way more handsome in real life than his pictures.
He was giving me kisses every few minutes while I was driving.
Unfortunately, I was tired and stressed after the weekend and when I got to the county road
near our home I got nailed by a lady cop for speeding (no points lost).
She was smitten with the pup and wanted to know where I got him.
We had a nice chat and I discovered that she grew up in Hamilton and went to Mac.
You may have a new customer.
On my way to your place I somehow got turned around on the 403 and was
heading to Oakville which is why I was late. Then got lost in your development.
Please apologize to your husband. He looked tired.
My husband loves him and he slept on his lap while he read his book.
Last night was noisy, which I expected. He does have a set of lungs. He is fine as long as he can see me.
All the other critters are excellent with him.
The old girl gives a little warning when he gets too close or tries to grab her ear.
All in all everyone has been absolutely great with him. I am considering the Pet Yard.
That would give him more freedom when I am out and a place to pee.
I have borrowed and x-pen from my neighbor for outside.
I have to go to my final appointment with the surgeon in Toronto tomorrow
and so am a little concerned about that. I will ask my neighbor to let him out.
I noticed that Pet smart has a containment pen.
Would you recommend that one or the one from Toys are Us?
Bye the way we are calling him "Brodie". I watched the movie "Meet the Morgans"
on Sunday night and the Border collie in the movie was "Brody'.
He looks like a Brody and already responds to his name. He is sooo smart.
Thanks again for such a lovely pup. We are totally pleased. If we can just get through the crate training.
I must say I have never had a dog that likes it's crate.

Apricot Male ~Lloyd~ Silver Collar(Rose x Razz)
Lloyd is AWESOME!! We love him. Very playful, very cuddly, lots of fun.
He is adjusting quickly to our routine. We all have assigned duties and times throughout the day so he gets lots of care and attention.
Toby our 6 yo white standard, has been very kind to him. I wasn't sure what his reaction would be since he's an 80 lb alpha male.
He has been super gentle with Lloyd and tolerates him very well. He does give some low quiet growls when Lloyd won't shut up at bed time
or if Lloyd tries to leave the room where I am watching him. Toby seems to be keeping him from getting into trouble.
I've been taking Toby for forest walks more often (his favorite thing) so his nose doesn't get too far out of joint with all the attention Lloyd is getting.
I think they will be great friends when Lloyd is big enough to go out with him for walks and they can run & play together in our 2 acre back yard.
I'll be getting the camera out this weekend and will send some pictures.
When I picked up Lloyd your husband had a dark brown puppy out, which obviously wasn't ours.
I was surprised to see how much bigger Lloyd was than the other pup. I hope he grows up to be close to Toby's size.
I would have loved to see your dogs....maybe some other time when I bring Lloyd back to visit.
I saw them through the glass doors and was absolutely shocked that they had been watching me arrive
and wait for a while, and they were totally silent!!!! I'm used to a very loud "poodle doorbell" at our house. What is your secret???
UPDATE:
I've been so busy since we got Lloyd I haven't had time to send you a note or pictures.
Lloyd is a fantastic dog!
He has an amazing fun lovable active personality. He is a magnet...everyone loves him and he seems to love everyone.
His older "brother" Toby, our white Standard poodle 7 years old has treated him very well right from day one.
Toby was a little shocked to say the least when Lloyd came home. They seem to get along better all the time.
Lloyd is always trying to get Toby to run and play with him....when Toby does finally join in...
Lloyd hides in corners somewhat afraid to play with his active 70 pound brother.
The vet says he is in very good shape and is growing very rapidly....and may be as big as his brother some day!!
He is eating like a horse lately, but is very slim and trim. He just had his first real trim at the groomers...
he was a very fuzzy puppy...and now looks like a nice trim adolescent (the groomers said he was very good after a few words in the beginning).
His colouring seems to be apricot on top and whiter underneath and around his face. He is gorgeous!
He loves the cottage....we are all going up again tomorrow for the long weekend.
He went swimming just briefly, but likes to wade into the water deeper and deeper. With his new trim, he may be more adventurous now.
I've attached some pictures...
Cheers,

Brown Female ~Cocoa~Fusia Collar (TxD)
Sorry it took me so long to get you a picture, but, we just moved less than two weeks ago and our internet was down!
I attached two pictures for you too choose from! It was difficult to get her to look at the camera.
I now have an appreciation for you and all those early pictures you took.
All is well here in Sault Ste. Marie Coco is settling in well.
She is so calm, that is funny that another client of yours took your poodle to the vet as it was sooo calm.
I was worried too! haha Glad to be reassured. She is growing like a weed. I really can't believe it.
Thanks for everything.

(sorry he opted out of the pic!! ... he took it :))

Zazu - Phantom male (SxB), Baako - Brown male (JxH)
Couldn't resist sending you these photos.
Zazu, peering through our front gate now weighing 57 lbs., is the most lovable animal I have ever known.
He's extremely curious to the point of almost being annoying, but something happened recently
that has given me cause to place him in the extraordinary "sensory" category.
I had a sore on my leg that wouldn't go away, and one Zazu kept sniffing, even when I tried to shoo him away.
After weeks of his annoyance, I thought I had better go to the dermatologist & have it checked.
The biopsy came back as a Sqeamous cancer & was surgically removed 2 days ago.
If Zazu hadn't persisted, I may have waited too long & it could have become a melanoma.
Now I always listen more closely to what he's trying to tell me. I have heard numerous stories like this,
but never thought I'd find our dear "Z" would be one of them!
Baako has become a therapy dog!!! His father would be proud of him.
We have visited the re-hab center here many times & have just gotten clearance to go to the Juvenile Detention Center.
I think that will be so rewarding to both of us. He's also in the mid 50 lbs. range, a bit taller than Zazu, but Zazu is "thee boss"!
They are playmates & soul mates every minute of the day, & even when Zazu lies down on top of Baako, Baako doesn't move.
How amazing that their personalities mesh so well. We continue to thank you in our minds for such great breeding.
We hope you've had a great year so far & will continue to watch your website to see what is going on with your furry friends.
Fondly,
Sandy & Marv - ABQ, New Mexico

Kodi brown male (Java/Hershey 8/11/07).
I am sending you a few pictures of Kodi and his Borzoi friend, Melissa. They had so much fun today.
I can tell you a lot of words about what wonderful dogs you raise and how much I love mine but I think these pictures show that joy.
These pictures are from Melissa's blog. She is the Borzoi puppy who is friends with Kodi (Java/Hershey 8/11/07).
I thought you might enjoy the Dance one where Melissa invites Kodi to dance and off they go. Poodle energy.

~Axel~ Blue Collar Red male (OxR)
Hi there!
I just wanted to send these pics of Axl. He's doing great.
He is enjoying his short hair cut in the brutal Texas summer heat.
He also loves to swim, and wouldn't be caught dead inside when everyone is in the pool.
He is the most loving dog I know and steals everyone's heart. It doesn't hurt that he's one heck of a looker.
Beauty and brains. I'll be sure to give an update on his first birthday along with some more pics.
Thank you so much for this beautiful pup...he'd the my running partner, my bed warmer, and my best companion.

Sorry for the delay in sending you the photos.
Charlie Brown -Blue boy- (TxD) is doing very well, he keeps us laughing everyday.
He has gotten into the habit of taking all of his toys and blankets, one by one, out of his kennel so he can play
with them out in the open. He especially loves dragging and tripping over the blankets. Toilet training is going very well.
He has responded positively to his daily routines. We can't get over how smart he is. He is such a problem solver.
He has learned how to sit on command, shake his right paw or left paw on command and speak on command.
He will also play fetch with the tennis ball for short stints. He loves to play in the water spray on the hot days, he can even drink from the hose!
We may finally have our water dog. Attached is a photo of myself with Charlie, Timber (poodle) and Chip (chocolate lab).
He is very fond of biting both of our boys ears, collars, legs and any other body part in sight.
They are both very patient with him, thank goodness.
Thanks for such a great little guy,
Sandy, Alexandra and Mike - Woodlawn Ontario

Brown Male ~Dexter~ Red Collar
A quick picture of Dexter 6 months of age and in training with Sierra and Hailey.
All the kids love the dog. Most of the time Dexter is gentle with the kids.
We still have a lot of work too do with Dexter but, he is coming along.
Samuel our oldest boy walks Dexter around town 3 times a day. (It gets him out other chores around the house)
His walking on leash has come a long way. I walk him free of the leash out of town as often as time permits. (Second Photo)
We have a gated private road not to far off and Dexter and I take advantage of it. (No Traffic -- except for coyotes, deer and moose).
We are weekly visitors to the dog park in town and everyone says he is a beautiful dog.
Is he extra work? .... Yes
Does he requires money and TIME? .... Yes
Is it worth all this? ..... I think so, I love my dog and I want my kids to have a well trained dog that they play with and call a friend.
Hope things are well

Attached are two photos of our darling Tootsie brown female (Raven x Beau) 2 years of age.
She is a beauty and full of love and personality. Tootsie is gentle and a wonderful addition to our family.
She is a great dog, very smart and cuddly. But I am sure you knew that already!
Someday we will be ready for an additional Bijou poodle. I check your website often.
Enjoy your summer,
Shirley T-D. - Massachusetts

Brown Female ~Echo~ Mint Collar (Tiny puppy from TxD)
Sorry to be delinquent in keeping in touch and sending pictures.
End of year crazies for teachers and new puppy means double madness.
Done now so will get a picture off soon. Echo is doing wonderfully. Full of piss and vinegar as you promised!
She makes us laugh constantly and is growing like a weed. She is close to 16 pounds now.
Caught a bit of a bug and wasn't eating for a day so lost a bit, but vet says all is well and she has gained it back.
Just as bad as sick babies, worries you to death. When Echo is quiet and not running after Sadie, you know something is wrong.
She has gone into her new crate at night as she has majorly outgrown her original one and adapted immediately to it with her old toys and cuddlies in place.
She will sleep until 7 depending on when she went to bed. Doing well with potty training and staying dry 99.999% of the time
and that's with some free time in the kitchen and family room and screened in porch when we are with her.
(any accidents were our fault, not paying close enough attn ) .
She is doing very well with her training, sitting on command consistently and doing well with down.
Pretty much pees on command and poops as soon as she gets up and last thing at night and once more during the day, so pretty predictable.
If she needs to go she won't come in and wanders back to the yard, which tells us she isn't done.(she gets puppy ADD if playing with Sadie)
We thought she was likely going to be the alpha as she was running Sadie ragged, jumping on her head, tumbling over her back, pulling on her ears,
biting her legs, stealing her toys, and Sadie was be so tolerant and doing little. However, June 29th was a turning point.
Sadie said enough, pulled herself up to her full height and said don't think so runt, and told her off.
She stayed standing so she had the advantage and kept pinning the little girl down until she surrendered.
This has been replaying itself, with Echo planning stealthy attacks from behind, running at her full speed, in between, but to no avail.
Sadie is in charge now and Echo goes into submissive posture when she realizes the jig is up and Sadie is bigger.
They chase and chase and chase each other around the yard and have stick and frisbee and ball wars (both tugging on the same toy) for hours on end.
They are quite content to be out there alone (I watch from the porch). Echo has chosen to have Sadie chase her around the evergreen trees,
so she is habitually covered in twigs and sticky branches that cling to her...what a joyful mess. She is strong and happy.
The funniest part is that through all their play they hardly ever make a sound. Both are quiet as mice.
No barking until Sadie really has had enough and then she will let out a single bark to let Echo know that's enough.
Echo watches everything Sadie does and is a very quick learner, she truly is a very smart little girl (my husband reminds me I have said that about all my babies)
but it is true, and she has a simply delightful personality. Sadie has lost 6 pounds due to the increased activity LOL!
She wasn't heavy but with poor old Brechin she wasn't getting enough exercise before. They are so cute together.
We have just about got the nipping stopped...far earlier than we were able to stop Sadie...and not the sneak attacks from behind that Sadie loved to do.
Echo is incredibly affectionate and will come for a cuddle before she toddles off to piddle or play...first things she wants when she is "sprung" from her play pen.
She is very good in it 99% of the time as well and seems to accept it as her lot in life, which isn't too tough given how much play and free time she gets with me home.
She is, all in all, truly a joy and Kim and I are getting the biggest kick out of her. Small but mighty is our little girl and a force to be reckoned with.
Oh, a question...in terms of registering her...says it has to be more than one name...is there any protocol ?
we are playing around with some ...we want Echo of Brechin in there to honor our boy (and she is the color he was as a little one)
but Kim was also wanting something like Bijou's Echo of Brechin or Truffle's Echo of Brechin or Dream's Echo of Brechin.
If we were to do that, is that any infringement or problem for you? Kim wanted to acknowledge her lineage even if she wasn't being bred, as she is so lovely.
Let me know. Other question as I have never paper trained a pup before. How do you wean her from it?
She hasn't used it in her play pen for about 4 or 5 days, but we want her to realize that she should hold it and let us know vs. use it
(which she actually may be doing now on her own), but we don't want to traumatize her by taking it away suddenly. Advice please.
Whew...longwinded bragging mommy letter. (:)
Take care,
Mary Jane S. & Kim S. - Jefferson, MD

Cecil (Raven X Beau 08/08/08) is lying down and Abby (retired queen) is sitting.
Hope your summer has been good!
I just wanted to fwd this picture of our two beautiful Bijou Poodles on their cottage summer vacation!
I finally got them to sit still at the same time (smile). They are the best of friends and wrestling buddies.
We enjoy their unique personalities so much ... Cecil is snuggly, carefree and silly, joyfully wanting to be involved in anything at all that is going on.
Abby is the gentle "mom" who carefully supervises family activites, making sure everyone is always safe and behaved, especially the kids and Cecil.
She is so incredibly well trained and behaved (thank you for that !). Their dynamics together are so interesting ...
Cecil still often licks Abby's face to remind her that he knows who the alpha is ... especially after they have been playing.
We all just LOVE our poodles so much ! Thank you again; and keep up the great work in producing such wonderful pets !

I can't believe that summer is coming to a close!
Thought you might like to see Radar's (Raven and Hershey Green Collar) progress with his swimming,
from a nervous start, to complete aquatic participation!
You are right ... poodles love the water :)
The additional photo is just to show you his gorgeous face :)
All the best
