...

Brown Female Gold Collar - Porsche -
I just wanted to check in with you and let you know that we're doing great!!!
She was very sweet and cuddly on our trip home- she didn't mind the car at all.
She's really adapting quite well, she has no fear, she's a brave girl ;-)

Attached are a couple pictures from last night. My sister came over to meet her new little niece.
We had a blast playing with her, shes an absolute joy.
Thank you so much for everything.
You can expect many pictures throughout Porsche's life.

..........
Cinder - dark red male Ruby x Razz - November 2008

Cinder is doing great here in the country.
He has adapted well to his new environment and plays a lot with his best friend, our labrador Midnight.
Cinder will be a year old next month and we are wondering if he will get any bigger.
He only weighs about 47 pounds and is 23 inches high? He seems a lot smaller than other Standard Poodles we know.
Is this because he was neutered so young?
Breeder's Response: People worry that pediatric spay/neuters procedure might stunt growth.
In fact, research shows that the dogs will actually get a little larger.
The reason for this is that the long bones tend to grow for a slightly longer period.
Since this extra growth is not caused by more rapid growth,
but instead by prolonged growth, the implication is that this might be a good thing in our breed.
It is known that when growth proceeds slowly over a longer period, the bone density (strength) increases.
I'm sorry to hear he did not get as tall as you had hoped. Reds are generally smaller than other colours, possibly related
to the infusion of red miniatures to create the red Standards and can range in height.
His weight is actually at par with most reds
UPDATE: Here is a picture that we took this week-end of Cinder's family... parents, sister (Midnight) and brother (our kitten York).
Cinder: "Playing with the kitten, that's my favorite thing! Playing with Midnight, that's my favorite thing!
Walking in the woods, that's my favorite thing! Sleeping by the fire, that's my favorite thing!
Swimming in the pond, that's my favorite thing!"
As you can see, he's having a lot of fun here :-)
Thank you,

...Dudley
Brown Phantom (Silver Collar Male SxB) -Dudley
We love our little guy! The nights have been going pretty well.
The first night he was up and whining about every hour and finally I just decided to take him out every time he whined.
Well, he peed every time, so I guess he knew what he was trying to tell me.
The second night he woke up 3 times and last night he was up at 4 and 4:30 then slept until my alarm went off at 7.
He goes right out to the grass and pees and then usually will come right back in and back into his crate without much of a struggle.
Once he is back in the crate, he is quiet and we can all get back to sleep, so this is all much better than I expected. Unfortunately Erik and I have not been serious enough about the potty training during waking hours.
Yes, we know he should be in his crate unless we have our eyes on him, but we will walk into the kitchen and forget that he is not crated.
I think he peed in the house 3 times yesterday. One time was definitely my fault because I came home from work and let him out of the crate
without taking him right outside. He seems to know that he is supposed to go out on the grass, he just has not gotten it yet that he is not supposed to go in the house.
It is hard to see any signal from him before he goes inside. Today Erik is going to take him out constantly, and keep him in the crate when they are not playing.
I know we will get it soon. I am very glad that I took the area rug out of the family room before he came home.
It will not be going back until he is fully trained and reliable. In the meantime, he slips and slides all over the hardwood floor.

He has learned sit and stand now. He is walking on a leash but will only go about 2 blocks from our house.
I think he would spend all his time out in the backyard chasing leaves if we would let him.
Unfortunately it has been raining here all week so we are not too motivated to stay outside with him.
He is too funny with the leaves, he pounces on them and then another and another. There are a lot of leaves and it keeps him very busy.
Rolling on the wet grass is another favorite. And attacking any shrubbery that is in mouth range.
BR> He is chewing everything but is good about corrections and diverting to a toy.
I think he has a future in obstacle courses because one of his favorite things to do is going under or over things.
Last night he squeezed himself under the couch, which is really too low for him to fit. He had been trying it from the front of the couch
and I thought he was trying to get at something under the couch. No, just wanted to get under.
He finally figured out that he could get under by going from the back of the couch and pushing himself under with his feet against the wall.
But once he was too far to reach the wall, he could not get traction to pull himself out the front. It was too funny. He needed a little help to get out.
He also likes to climb under and over the cross bar on the coffee table, which is barely big enough for him to fit through.
Maybe I will get a long tube for him to play in. Is there any gopher in his background?

Thanks for sending all of the toys and the blanket. I have not washed the blanket yet and he seems to like snuggling up with it in his crate.
The snuggy puppy that I bought is his favorite toy and he pulls it out of his crate and takes it over to his play spot.
We are working on retrieve and he will bring toys back to me if I sit near his play spot. I just love watching him pounce on the toy.
Tough to get a good picture of that.

My two cats are curious about him but are still too scared to come into the same room.
I brought one of them in and she hissed at Dudley. That would have sent our little poodle mix into hysteria and then the cat running from the room.
Dudley perked up and looked at the cat but was not excited or anything. So now it is up to the cats to calm down.
As long as he does not react, I know they will eventually be able to be in the same room and we will be one big happy family!.

Okay, that is my novel about Dudley. One question that I have is about the size of his paws. They are huge!
Did his brother and sisters have paws as big as his or is it an optical illusion from the light hair?
If he grows into these paws, will he be about 100 lbs?????

I love rubbing the bottoms, they are like big soft bear paws.

We had our pup’s face shaved today and we can finally see his eyes.
I think his face looks just like his Dad Beau now, except for his phantom markings. He is such a sweet puppy.

Brief update ...Conan (Flair) continues to thrive.
He absolutely loves to play with any and all dogs, is gentle with the tiniest of them,
but somehow recognizes a kindred spirit in other standard poodles and gravitates to them whenever they are around.
He has a regular morning romp with Jett, a jet black standard.
They play wrestle and run through the woods until they both give up to go home and have breakfast.
He has another afternoon and weekend play buddy, a six month old silver standard, Audon,
who Conan is teaching all the play tricks he has learned from Jett. Conan is such a pleasure to love,
I can't thank you enough for allowing me to adopt this wonderful boy.
Here are a couple of pictures, taken at one year.
I am not sure of his weight right now but he was 66 lbs at 10 months when he was neutered.
He is almost 27 inches to the shoulder. When he stretches out, he is very long
fills the bed or sofa, wherever he happens to decide is his preferred place at the moment.
Hope all is well with you.... I love the Halloween pics on your website.

Stella (cafe) and Stanely (Rose x Oliver)
Thank you so much. I’ll check out the link you sent.
In the meantime, when Keith went home for lunch he took them both out, one at a time, then let them loose while he made lunch.
He said he hardly had to reprimand Stella. They actually played together a little bit.
Then I came home almost an hour later and was greeted by two happy dogs. And then Stella started again.
Not nearly as bad though. So, yes, it is me. I’ll do whatever I can to fix this. Thanks so much for the advice and I’ll let you know how it goes.
I’ve attached a picture taken by Keith this afternoon (before I got home). Hopefully I can get a hold of our dog obedience person and get something set up asap.
(by the way, Stella is around little ones a lot but is usually quite good, will sometimes run after them if they run but we always have her on a short leash
when my niece and nephew – ages 5 and 1 – come up to visit, she is never aggressive with them).
UPDATE:
I can barely believe the difference between yesterday at this time and today.
Both dogs went for a good long walk and played a lot outside. Stella paid almost no attention to Stanley this evening.
She was on a short leash and Stanley kept grabbing it and she let him lead her around.
I don’t think he knew what he was doing, he was just playing with her leash.
Maybe she just needed to be put in her place. Hopefully I’m not speaking too soon.
Don’t worry, I’ll learn how to handle Stella as well as Stanley. I’ll keep you posted.

WHAT HAPPENED TO MY LETTER AND PHOTOS ?

Because I had let this page get so big with hundreds of references and photos in over 20 years
I have lost most old references I have had as they were deleted.
Please do not take offence if your reference and photos are not located
on my pages any longer as it is a computer (computer owner) malfunction.
I have split my reference page up with what I was able to rescue, on the following pages.
if you have any photos or comments to contribute, please feel free to send them for reposting.
Thank you for your understanding.
