Finnegan - Red Male (OxC)
I thought I would take a second to give you an update on Finnegan as he turns 4 months old today.
Finnegan has had all of his puppy shots and weighed in at the vet today at 29.8 lbs and about 19 inches at the shoulder.
He had his first grooming appointment on Nov 23 and the groomer said he did pretty well for a first timer.
I had been bathing him every 2 weeks and she said I had done well as he was great in the tub and had no problem with the dryer or being combed/brushed.
He was not too keen on the clippers, but he did manage to get through his puppy clip.
I have attached a photo of my beautiful little boy for you to see! I would have liked to have his coat cut a bit shorter,
but the groomer said that he was getting squirmy and wanted to play and as she scissor cuts the body, she didn't want to have him end up
with a bald spot if he fidgeted. He goes back for his next appointment on January 9th.
She has a white standard poodle and Finnegan was just thrilled with him.
I think he was happy to meet a dog that reminded him of the adult poodles he knew at your house.
We are halfway through puppy class and we have made some positive improvements.
Finnegan is very smart, he learns commands very quickly, he knew sit, down, give me a paw and off before we started class,
but he is very sociable and sometimes would rather visit with the other pups than concentrate on his tasks. LOL!
It is a small class, there are only 5 other pups and all of the other owners are always complimenting me on how regal he looks, especially with his new hairdo!
I love walking him and he loves to walk. We go 3 times a day, half hour in the morning, 20-30 minutes at lunch and 45- 60 minutes after work.
The vet told me that at his size and energy level he could handle it and it would make him happier and easier to train at home.
We are working on not jumping at people when we pass them and learning how to interact calmly with dogs we encounter.
These two are really a work in progress.
Finnegan is a delight and a challenge. He is charming, loving, playful, funny, smart and great company, but he has a big stubborn streak as well.
He is still giving my cats fits, but they all want to be near him.
He sometimes charges and jumps at them, not out of aggression, he just wants to play with them like they are puppies.
He is getting better, in fact much better than a month ago, but we are still a work in progress.
The only other main area that we are working hard to improve on is the mouthing.
He still grabs quite a bit, but when he gets the "off" command he is pretty good at letting go – most of the time…
He is a big cuddle bug and loves to sleep on the loveseat or sit in my lazy boy chair with me & watch TV – oaky, I watch and he snoozes.
I just adore him and I am so glad that I found you in time to get him!
Thank you again for letting me welcome this beautiful boy into my family.
If I am not in touch again before Christmas, happy holidays to you and your family!

Rika (dark red male FxO)
I'm writing to say hi and give you an update on Rika.
He's 6 months old now and such a joy. He and Gandi are inseperable.
They eat together, play all the time and sleep together on the couch and on my bed, leaving me very little room!
Rika likes to sleep on his back with his head on the pillow.
When he was smaller I tried to keep him in the kitchen when I was out but that lasted one day because he climbed the gate to be with Gandi.
I call him my monkey, well named! You're so right when you say that reds are really into their people!
He follows me everywhere and has to be beside me always.Velcroed!
He has tons of energy and makes me laugh with his antics. Such a clown!
He breezed through obedience classes and the instructor used him all the time to demonstrate what he was teaching.
Rika recently had his first grooming (2 hrs.) and handled it like a pro! He's a beautiful and rich red, just like paprika
and when he looks at you with those amazing eyes, your heart melts!
Hope to hear what you think of the pictures! Maybe I'll see him on the website!
Take care,
Mary K. - Halifax, Nova Scotia

Gertrude Theresa Tynan (brown female Hershey x Java - orange collar girl)
As I promised you a little over a year ago, here are Gertrude Theresa Tynan's official photos celebrating her first birthday.
I can't believe she's a year old today. True to its nature, time does fly when you're having fun.
Gertrude extends Happy Birthday wishes from afar to sister Truffles and brother Bruno.
I know I've pretty much inundated you with photos of Gertrude over the past year, but I thought I'd send you these two photos commemorating her first year.
This past year has been a blast. I can't put it any other way. I find it so difficult to believe that one year ago today,
Gertrude was this tiny little squealing brown furball with slits for eyes. Today she weighs 56.2 pounds and stands 27" tall.
Gertrude is extremely intelligent. She has been from the day we picked her up and brought her home.
Of course, I've never met a stupid poodle, just owners who needed some educating.
Gertrude was potty trained within a week. She's never spent time in a crate.
At first, we simply kept Gert confined to our kitchen when we weren't home. At night, she was confined to our bedroom and slept alongside our bed.
We never awoke to any messes, and she slept the whole night through.
After a few short months, we left our bedroom door ajar during the night, and Gertrude decided to meander out and sleep with her "sister" Ceara on the couch.
To this day, Gertrude makes up her own mind as to where she wants to spend the night, either on the couch with "sister" Ceara or alongside our bed;
whatever floats her boat. When my husband and I are not home, our couch alongside our picture window
is the perch of choice for both girls as it offers the best glimpse of our return.
Gertrude has never chewed or destroyed anything. She has never exhibited any destructive tendencies at all.
Her personality is very complex. I'm sure Bruno and Truffles share Gertrude's personality traits.
Gertrude is smart as a whip, resilient, confident, loving, silly, sweet, friendly, boisterous, inquisitive,
and as my grandmother GERTRUDE TYNAN (my Gertrude's namesake) used to say, "She's full of the devil."
My Aunt Theresa (my grandmother's sister) used to keep my sisters and I mesmerized for hours telling us stories
of all the trouble she used to get into in the early 1900s when she was a little girl. It was all good, clean fun,
and we came to learn that our Aunt Theresa had been "full of the devil." Well, "our" Gertrude wasn't a part of our family for long before
we decided that "Theresa" would be a good middle name for our brown poodle puppy, in memory of my beloved aunt.
Let's just say when I yell, "Gertrude Theresa Tynan," that girl comes a runnin', and always with a silly grin on that beautiful poodle face.
Gertrude was exceptionally quick to learn her basic obedience commands, and I had her walking tandem with sister Ceara right from the get-go.
Gertrude and Ceara are my unofficial therapy dogs because everyone who has the pleasure of meeting them walks away feeling good about themselves.
If that's not therapy, I don't know what is.
We can't go anywhere that people aren't stopping us every few feet, the girls are told they are beautiful, and the people have a million questions;
where did I get them, do I dye their coats (I love that one), who grooms them, how long does it take for me to groom them, are they related, how old are they
. . . the list is endless. This past year I received what I believe to be the highest compliment anyone has ever paid me when a gentleman said,
"Those are the most beautiful dogs I've ever seen." Needless to say, I was very proud.
One thing I've learned over the years is if you prefer to maintain your anonymity, you shouldn't parade around town with a couple of standard poodles.
This will be Gertrude's first Christmas with us, and we are really looking forward to sharing the holiday season with her.
Last year was filled with excitement in anticipation of our trip to Canada to pick up our beautiful poodle puppy.
This holiday season the excitement and anticipation is in sharing our home and our lives
with these beautiful poodles who bring us so much happiness every day of the year.
I will continue to keep you updated on Gertrude's life over the passing years. I assure you I'm very diligent in that respect.
Gertrude is too special not to share, especially with the people who are responsible for helping her to become a part of this world and a part of our lives.
Our very best to Truffles and Bruno.
May their birthday be as special as the birthday we intend to have for their sister, Gertrude Theresa Tynan, our beautiful brown poodle who's "full of the devil."

Brady (FxR) and Barnaby (JxH)
Loved your Halloween Web page (each poodle dressed up in costume).
Not only do you breed fabulous Poodles, but you have an outrageous sense of humor and creativity.
I was happy to see that Barnaby made it to your ~showcase~ of Java and Hershey puppies.
He is just so regal looking and I am happy to say he has outgrown his "piranha" stage and I can wear short sleeves once again.
He is as smart as can be and ever so affectionate. He is truly a gentle giant.
Having Brady has been wonderful. Talk about different personalities.
Brady is and has been a loving, sweet boy.
He follows me everywhere and covers me with sweet puppy kisses.
Any makeup I wear he usually kisses off ! He has been the youngest but LARGEST
in puppygarten, where he graduates with honours on Sunday.
Barnaby and Brady are great pals and have a blast playing together.
They play until the drop and sleep peacefully through the night,
Probably dreaming of what they will do the next day.

hello,
we have a fabulous brown poodle named "Coco".
From Abby x Hershey Litter and have to say, everything you have posted on your website
is so true about this dog. her temperament really is amazing. she was trained to go out in 3 days!
A definite great addition to our household.
she even likes to play barbies with my daughters.
Anyway, a question about her ears. for approx a year now she has had ear yeast infection
It will clear up and then start again, changed food as well to see if gets better.
Wondering if you have any suggestions or info about this condition.
thanks,
James B. and Leslie W. - Ottawa

The photo was taken at the Dawg & Dash event put on by the Humane Society here in ABQ, where at least 3,000 people attended!
You can imagine how many dogs came as some people had as many as 4 dogs.
My son-in-law ran the 5K with his std. & labradoodle rescue, then joined us on a 2 mile walk at the well-known Balloon Fiesta Park.
What a glorious day. Blue skies, in the hi 60's, but felt like mid 70's as strong as our sun gets.
Tons of booths promoting all kinds of food, equipment, boarding, training, you know how that goes.
Lots of poodles there, but none like Zazu & Baako. They behaved beautifully & attracted so much attention.
Zazu has 3 extra novice classes to finish (trainer gives 4 free at the end of 8), then he'll go into advanced agility.
We have to re-sign Baako into agility as he LOVES LOVES it. The Dawg event had agility equipment set up & he flew over everything.
for the time being though, it will have to wait as I am having surgery this a.m. on my thumb (arthritis) & will be wrapped 9 days before being cast 3 wks.
I was told recovery could be 6-8 mos., but since I'm left-handed & need this arm to work fast, I will not find it easy to sit back & dilly over it.
don't know if I told you that Zazu rings the bell to go out & do his business. He also goes on command.
Took lots of patience to gteach him but he knows what side his bread is buttered on. Also, Baaco barks when Zazu goes to the door.
That's so amazing to us.
All else is great & I do check Bijou's website occasionally to get my "fix". Can't get enough of those beautiful faces.
Hope all is well with you & your family.
Fondly,
Sandy G. - New Mexico

Here are a few of LAUTREC's (Brown Male Java/Hershey) recent photos. As you can see, he is best buddies with Toulouse.
On October 12th, he had his face trimmed for the first time...so handsome.
Will send a photo w. clipped face asap.
He is growing SOOOO fast. He has long legs which remind me of a colt versus a dog :).
He is already 24 inches tall and weighs 55 lbs at 23 weeks. Fortunately, however, he is well coordinated.
He has been great fun and we enjoy him every day.
His transition into the everyday flow of our family life has been very smooth.
His coat is coming in nicely and he has beautiful, sweet brown eyes.
He is fully housetrained and sleeps thru the night. Pretty impressive.
He prefers to sleep in the pen vs. the kennel. He really likes to stretch out and seems so much more content
in the Super Yard XT. He likes space to move about.
During the day, he has full reign of the house and a lot of time outdoors with family.
Lautrec and Toulouse went hiking with us in the mountains of North Carolina last week and stayed in an elegant B&B.
The falling leaves were a big attraction and he was a perfect gentleman at the Inn ... an amazing travel companion.
We feel blessed to have him in our lives and look forward to many years of laughter watching his antics.
Hope you and your pups are well,
Mary and Grant - Florida

Black male silver Collar (Raven x Hershey)
I did send a message on the day I picked him up (????) and I think you have replied but things are going very well.
He is sleeping and playing and is the cutest little character I have ever seen.
He and Millie (Abbie and Beau puppy, Katherine's puppy) have been playing together and he is worn out.
I took him to our vet yesterday and he was very impressed. He is very smart and learning fast.
Although is calm and sweet like Millie he has a totally different personality. I just love him already.
Let me know how things go with Cargo...

Ben (Blk Male Drk Blue collar) and Raven (Blk Female Purple collar)
I don't have the savvy to send pictures yet of the puppies, but just wanted to give you a little up-date on how they are doing.
We decided we really liked the mother's name for the female and Ben seems to suit the male's gentle personality.
They both settled down very quickly, especially I think because of our older dog
who has shown them the joy of walks and hanging around the house when not being walked.
They play together alot and depend on each other for comfort and companionship, so that takes a lot of pressure of us which is required with just one.
Also they have cottoned on fast that Buddy is not interested in puppy antics, but is very patient with them just the same.
We have had the odd accident in the crate by Ben who does not seem to have the same degree of control over his bowels and bladder as Raven.
Interesting that human girls develop quicker than boys. I wonder if it is the same for dogs! They understand "off!" already and Ben has caught on to "sit".
Pretty good for 2 months I think. When should they get their first cut? Also the next shot is what and when?
I seem to remember you saying to not give rabies before 3 months, correct?
Thank you again for letting us have them. We shall try to send you some pictures in the not too distant future.
Update
Well, it seems, they are both on the same bathroom schedule now, even though they eat at the same time every day.
Ben has not peed or poohed in the crate for 3 days now.
He is a little more nervous by nature than Raven and it may have taken him a little longer to adjust and feel more relaxed.
I also have a 3' high adjustable ( in shape and size) metal play pen and put them in there for playtime.
Learning to go for walks has been easy because they are so attached to each other,
I have one on the leash and the other one free who follows the older dog and the one on the leash follows the free one.
We take it in turns to be leashed so they understand they have to respond to control.
It has really been very easy so far. They both resisted going into the crate at first, then I started giving them a treat when they went in,
now they go in like a shot as soon as we come inside! Thanks for the info.
to be honest I haven't had a chance to reread what you gave us in the bags. I shall do that!
Sincerely,
Janet & Rocky - Ontario

Abby did SO well both nights so far! She slept the first night in michael's
room, with Cecil too...
she went to bed on her Costco bed beside his bed (Yes, she sure does love those costco beds!!!), and Cecil slept up on the end of Michael's bed.
But when Michael got up the two dogs had changed places!! too funny!
None of us really expected her to sleep very well the first few nights, but she has slept soundly all night!
She's hardly eating or drinking yet, but i guess that's to be expected for a little while.
Matt and Hannah took both dogs to the dog park yesterday at supper time, and they had a great run ...
and guess who shows up but another black standard!!! They're taking over the world!!
The only concern we have with Abby at this time is getting her to come back when called.
She doesn't yet. (Not that Cecil is all that reliable either :)
In the backyard, I have tried to leave her on a leash as you suggested, but she won't pee or poo on the leash.... or even leave my side!
Such a well trained girl!! So she runs around with Cecil quite happily.... trying to find a private spot to "go" without his nosey self getting too interested...
When Cecil is done playing, he comes to the back door to come in, but we have to go out and get Abby.
I am thinking major rewards are in order to make coming to US work for her?
I know she just needs time to get to trust us and get used to all the new stuff in her life...
We just love her so much! And she comes over to each of us for pats and cuddles.
she is still a little nervous about the hard wood, but i think it's a little better each day.
She certainly does NOT slip and slide, but obviously worries about it.
She is such a gentle girl, and obviously a "mom" too.
Twice when Matt and Cecil were wrestling and carrying on noisily, she stood up and looked at them so alert
and gave a couple of stern woofs, as if to tell them to cut it out!! so sweet!
Hope you are all doing well as you certainly miss Abby ...
but be assured that she is very much adored and is settling in much quicker than I had even hoped for!
And feel free to stay in contact!
