A breed that was only allowed to be touched or owned by Royalty.
Perfected by the Japanese for human companionship.
Today this rare unspoilt breed, is enjoyed by many, across the world.

Japanese Chin are a toy breed, weighing 7-11 lbs.
The well known breed trait, is their wide eyed, look of astonishment
acheived because of the small amount of white showing in the inner corners of the eyes.
This breed is fearless and very inquisitive. Their curiosity combined with their
wide eyed innocent look, will certainly have you laughing at what they get into.
They are just little clowns.

Unlike most toy breeds, the chin easily house trains, and will ask to go outside
by pacing or scratching at the door, or ringing a bell if you have one.
Keeping a pee pad by the exit door will help a great deal.
Unlike other toy breeds, the Chin is not prone to barking
and if it is the only dog in the house, you may never hear them bark at all.
When irritated with their humans, they do object with this adorable "whooo whooo"
which is totally endearing.

Another unusual trait of the Chin is his tendency blow out of his nose,
resulting in a fine mist of exhalation, also known by Chin fanciers as a "snizzle."
This is not the sign of a respiratory infection, but instead is due to his flat face.
Reverse sneezing is also common in the Chin and is not usually a cause for concern.

Their coat is medium length, fine, and soft and easy to maintain
just run a brush through weekly, which takes seconds and makes for less shedding.
If you bath them weekly, you will get even less shedding and a more flowing coat.
Quiet, funny, clean, easy maintenance coat.
You could not find a breed more perfect for apartment or small space living

The Chin is closely related to the Pekingese.

NJoy Japanese Chin History

I have had Standard Poodles since 1989.
I have "produced" 19 CKC Champions and 5 Grand Champions
and 41 UKC Champions, 25 Grand Champions and 4 Best in Show
and 6 Top Ten winners. Along with well over 200 Performance Sport Titles.
However I have also always enjoyed having a small breed to show as well.

After a 15 year break, I was searching for a small breed again.
I had already shown Bostons, Bulldogs, Pugs and Frenchies were everywhere.
This lead me to consider the Tibetan Spaniel until I saw how messy they looked showing.
I then read more about the Japanese Spaniel and was impressed by their lack of barking, lap dog
purpose and easy to maintain, luxurious tidy coat. I tend to really like the smoosh faced breeds
so this elegant, low maintenance, non-barking, clean breed, really appealed to me right away.

I started researching which kennel was winning for years, at all the big shows.
Out of those kennels, I looked for who was breeding closest to "MY" ideal of the standard.
I contacted the famous Touche kennel and was honored when
they offered me their keeper puppy "Touche's Yuna know How to NJoy" a red sable female.
I enjoy having something unique and reds in the breed, sure are.

What none of the literature talk about, is the Chin's humorous facial expression and how they use it.
That serious "grumpy" face, coupled with comical behavior, makes everyone around them laugh.
So curious and fearless, they will get into everything and are certainly less mindful of corrections
than any other breed I have owned. They do NOT bark, or VERY RARELY bark, instead they make
low growly/grumbly noise, when playing, that is so endearing. When really frustrated they do a "sing song" musical
whoo whoo, in complaint, which is adorable.

This breed is so ideal for apartment living, I'm amazed more people don't have them.
The one bad thing about them, or at least mine, is they know when I am reaching for them
and will laughingly (I swear they laugh) and jump and skitter away just out of reach.
My solution was to buy a butterfly net. LOL

I also purchased "Tuxedochin's Bring on the Bling to Njoy" aka "Bling"
as she is carrying red and is from Touche lines
During that time I contacted a breeder in Russia who had STUNNING red sables
and a definite outcross pedigree. Hin Satori Kennels, had however,
sold those girls, but offered me their sibling
a gorgeous black and white male, carrying red and from Hin Satori and We-Syng lines
which is another kennel, I had been admiring. This boy is "Hin Satori Journey to NJoy" aka "Trip"

I decided to separate my Chins from my poodles and name my Chin breedings "NJoy"
because that is what I plan on doing, with my adorable Chins.
I hope through the years to prove myself worthy of the breed and also to produce
some incredible red sables and maybe lemon Chins of quality.
